About Me
Sango Tajima (she/hers) is a Japanese-American performer, writer, theatre & film maker based in Los Angeles. Born in Michigan and raised in Hawaii, Thailand, Tanzania, Trinidad & Tobago, and Japan, she returned to the U.S. to get her BFA at the University of Michigan. Upon graduation she moved to the Bay Area for an Artistic Direction apprenticeship at Magic Theatre in San Francisco. Since then she’s acted in, written for, and directed numerous productions throughout the Bay Area and regionally, and has performed on stages in Japan, China, Korea, and Israel. She was a member of political theatre collective, The Bonfire Makers, with whom she has created and performed We Go Boom and PLACE to LAND, two productions about the effects of the tech industry and historical cycles of displacement in Oakland. She was a former core member and co-leader of devised theatre ensemble, Ragged Wing Ensemble. She is currently a company member of the Bay Area’s Asian-American theatre company, Ferocious Lotus, who has produced some of her short plays. She currently resides in Los Angeles, pursuing an MFA in Screen Acting through Oklahoma City University's satellite program. Her goal is to return to her nomadic roots and create work internationally, building a network of international artists who are instrumental in shaping the stories and faces reflected on stage & screen, in writer’s rooms, and in leadership.
